Our methodology
Every BestCardIn ranking is built by hand from the issuer's own published terms. We do not accept payment for placement, and rankings never depend on whether an issuer is an affiliate partner. This page documents exactly how we score cards, where the data comes from, and how often it is reviewed.
Where the data comes from
Card data — annual fee, interest rate (CAT in Mexico, CET in Brasil, EA in Colombia), cashback rate, welcome bonus, foreign transaction fee, requirements — is taken directly from each issuer's own product page. We never copy data from other comparison sites.
Each card record stores the source URL it was last verified against. The Sources block on every card page exposes those URLs publicly so readers can click through and confirm the headline figures themselves.
App store ratings (iOS App Store and Google Play) are pulled from the official issuer apps and re-checked at least monthly. Ratings older than 90 days are dropped and re-fetched.
How rankings are built
We score cards on a category-specific rubric. The cashback ranking weights effective cashback rate (after caps) the heaviest, then annual fee, then redemption flexibility. The no-annual-fee ranking weights the absence of recurring cost first, then the cashback or rewards rate, then approval ease. Business rankings weight expense-tracking features and cashback on operating spend categories.
Every ranking change to a published guide requires sign-off from the editor-in-chief. We log the date of the most recent review on every guide and on every card detail page so readers can tell at a glance how fresh the recommendation is.
How often we review
Every card record is re-verified at least quarterly against the issuer's source page. Cards whose terms change materially (fee, cashback rate, sign-up bonus, eligibility) are flagged for an immediate manual review and republished within seven days.
Every guide carries a 'Last reviewed' timestamp at the top. If a guide hasn't been touched in more than six months, it is automatically pushed back into the editorial queue.
How we handle errors
If we get something wrong, please tell us. Every card detail page has a Suggest a correction button that opens a guided submission form. Corrections are verified by the research editor against the issuer's source page before any change ships.
Approved corrections are reflected on the card page and trigger a re-review of any guide that ranked the card. Rejected corrections receive an explanation by email when an address is provided.
Independence and conflicts of interest
BestCardIn is editorially independent. No issuer pays for placement. No affiliate partnership can change a card's score, rank, or whether it appears at all. If we ever introduce affiliate links, they will be disclosed on the page they appear on and on our advertising-disclosure page.
Our editorial team does not own positions in the issuers we cover or accept any benefit (cards, points, expensed travel) from issuers we recommend.
